Emergency Message for U.S Citizens: Cuba, Cholera Outbreak in Granma Province

Security Message – Cholera Outbreak

This message is to inform U.S. citizens residing in or visiting Cuba that the Cuban Ministry of Public Health has reported a cholera outbreak in Granma Province. The Cuban government has confirmed 53 cases of cholera, including the deaths of three elderly adults. There have been further unconfirmed reports of additional cases.
We urge you to follow public health recommendations and guidelines, such as safe food and water precautions and frequent hand washing to help prevent cholera infection. The Cuban Ministry of Public Health is urging people to comply with sanitary measures associated with personal hygiene, water and food. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization both provide information about Cholera to the traveling public.

BAHIA DE BANDERAS, NAYARIT
Family have identified 2 of 3 executed here Saturday night as ex-Marines. The family said they both were now with the state police, one in Jalisco state, the other Nayarit. Inside the van with the bodies were weapons, hundreds of vests, and ammunition.
ZACATECAS, SAN LUIS POTOSI, MEXICO, NAYARIT AND GUADALAJARA
These four states and the city of Guadalajara awoke to narcobanners hung throughout those areas. They have photos and accuse specific people of criminal acts or corruption. Another report identifies the CDG or Gulf Cartel as being responsible.
NUEVO LAREDO, TAMAULIPAS
Again, a grenade has been thrown at the newspaper El Manaña facilities on Tuesday. Another newspaper in Monterrey, El Norte, also suffered a grenade attack the same day. Both only sustained property damage.
Soldiers here killed 3 bad guys during a shootout, and seized 9 AK47 and AR 15 rifles, two handguns, 60 magazines, and 2,000 rounds of ammunition.
A man was executed when he went to buy some roasted chicken. A motorcyclist came up and shot him in the head. Investigators discovered that the victim was active duty military, and the head of military intelligence for an infantry battalion.
TIERRA BLANCA, VERACRUZ
Merced Malpica Ruiz, leader of the Local Union of Sugarcane Growers, was kidnapped Sunday and found murdered on Monday. His burned truck was later found. His nephew as also taken and later found beaten but alive.
Gunmen burst into a party in a private home, and killed 3 people, while wounding several others early Monday morning.
Three people were executed separately in this city on Tuesday. One victim was a valet at Casino Caliente.
Five people were kidnapped Tuesday morning by gunmen. Two of 3 living together were middle aged brothers.
The ambush which killed 7 state police officers here was done by gunmen that had waited for several days, hiding in the hills. They had made small shelters, had water and food. Investigation has revealed that the officers were killed in a planned crossfire. After the ambush, a helicopter searching for the shooters was fired on, and return fire killed a bad guy, making a total of 5 gunmen killed.
At least a dozen gunmen stormed a house here, and executed 4 people in the same family. Two others from the same family were wounded. Investigators found hundreds of cases of different calibers.
