ITURBIDE, NUEVO LEÓN
An informant snitched on the municipal police department in Linares for involvement with the Zetas, maintaining a narco cocina (to dispose of bodies) and also another location where victims were killed and burned. The police chief fled when authorities came, but 3 police officers were arrested. The chief was later arrested. State police and the military captured more later, and after questioning the 18 suspects, found out more of a kidnapping ring they had which often killed victims even when ransom was paid. Authorities were led to locations where bone fragments of victims were located.
A chase and shootout between police forces and cartel gunmen left a member of their SWAT dead. Several other officers were wounded. DATE (heir SWAT) officers guarded the medical facility during the treatment of their wounded partners. They continued searching for the gunmen.
A lengthy report details the militarization of the US-Mexican border in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and Coahuila, including sand bags gun emplacements along the Rio Grande river banks. The growing violence between the Zetas and Gulf cartels in those states is cited as the reason. The candidate for Monterrey mayor said he is planning to build new military barracks and have 800 Mexican Marines serve as municipal police with a military leader as director of security. Other locales are also making similar plans.
A married couple were found executed outside of town, after their car was found burned south of Caborca.
A report based on an information request details the deaths, injuries and disability due to the past four years of enforcement. It includes Mexican Marines serving as police. Translations: Policia Federal-Federal Police, Entidades con Lesionados-Places with Wounded, Estados con mas Lesionadas-States with Most Injuries, Agents que han quedado invalidos-Agents left invalids, Semas lesionados-Marines wounded, Personal que quedo disincapacitado-Personnel left disabled.
Assassins stormed a bar here Sunday night, spraying it with gasoline and torching it. A narco message was later found next to the burned bodies of the man and woman. Both had been shot in the head.
Authorities have arrested an ex-agent of state police investigations, Jorge Luis García Jacinto alias “El Camote”, who was captured Sunday dawn. with 3 other members of the criminal cell known as “La Barredora”. They are responsible for numerous high profile kidnappings, and deaths.
ATOTONILCO EL GRANDE, HIDALGO**
Two municipal police officers have been shot and killed while on patrol here. They were initially transported to a local hospital where they later died.
TECÁMAC, ESTADO DE MÉXICO
The Mexican military has captured Raúl Díaz Román, alias El Comandante Hierro or El Varilla, lieutenant of Beltrán Leyva cartel in the State of Morelos, and responsible for the kidnapping and execution of Juan Francisco Sicilia Ortega, son of the well known poet Javier Sicilia.
Seven persons were executed near here over the weekend. By the time authorities arrived, they only found an empty truck with bullet holes and blood. Badiraguato is considered the cradle of drug trafficking, as the most dangerous drug lords wanted by U.S. and Mexican authorities have been born there, including Ismael El Mayo Zambada, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman, Los Beltranes (Arturo, Alfredo and Hector), among others .
A PRD congressional candidate in this state was killed Sunday after campaign appearances, and enroute to another. Margarito Genchi Casiano had been mayor of Florencio Villarreal, Guerrero from 2005 to 2008.
