Total cases of H1-N1 now total 3, 522
The Mexican Ministry of Health reported today that with 978 new patients this week, the total number of cases is now 3,522. The total deaths from it now number 89.

SAN NICOLAS, NUEVO LEÓN*
A municipal police officer was shot on his way to work Thursday evening about 8pm. He was transported to a hospital and died the following day. The officer, Ruben Martinez Morales, 37 years of age, had been on the force for 4 years.
CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA
A municipal police patrol unit was attacked Thursday morning, with gunmen firing over 50 rounds. One officer was hit in the head, and the female partner also wounded. The report does not state either has died. Unofficially, it was said that gunmen were detained, but there has been no official statement.
MONTERREY, NUEVO LEÓN
The state attorney general’s office has announced the arrest of 10 gunmen for the executions of 11 people on January 26. Cocaine, weapons, a torture table, cell phones, vehicles and more. The group is responsible for at least 30 crimes. One of the group’s ringleaders is associated with the Zetas.
CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA
A 20 year old woman who was about 5 months pregnant was shot multiple times while driving. She was taken to the hospital, but died hours later.
The Federal Police have arrested at the port of Acapulco Jonathan Santos Martinez, aka “Jona” , deputy leader of the criminal group “La Barredora” and who is linked to 34 kidnappings there. Others were arrested with him, and seized were a vehicle reported as stolen, a rifle, two grenades, 72 bundles of marijuana, three wraps of white powder, three mobile phones, two blankets with different legends signed by “La Barredora “against rival groups and documentation.
SAN IGNACIO, SINALOA
Three men were found with signs of extreme torture, bound, and beheaded. None of them were identified.
