**Asterisk denotes death involving a police officer or a member of the military serving in that capacity. Some items are from notirex.com. Killings have become so routine that it is no longer possible to report them all. Newspapers will sometimes report that there were a total of ?? homicides in a locale instead of separately reporting each death. This is complicated by the continuing threats and deaths of journalists.
EL PEÑASCO, ZACATECAS
Federal police responded to reports of kidnapped persons, and were met with gunfire. In El Peñasco, two kidnapped persons were rescued and 2 bad guys killed. This gave rise to a second shootout, which caused gunmen to use narco blockades to slow pursuing authorities. Nevertheless, there were 6 gunmen eliminated and weapons, ammunition, grenades, grenade launchers, radio equipment, vehicles and more was seized. Below, bus used as blockade.
CIUDAD JUAREZ, CHIHUAHUA
Dozens of bags of marijuana, seeds and residue were abandoned and left near cemetery hill. The finding was reported to state police. The report says this was part of a larger shipment that arrived here by a parcel service company, as all of the bags had the logo of a courier company.
SAO PAULO, BRASIL
In the category of marketing strategy is the report of a Brasilian drug trafficker giving free cocaine to addicts in exchange for them tattooing his name on their bodies. So far, about 70 in one village have done so and police report finding bodies with the same tattoo.
On Monday, 10 people were killed in the state. one of those was the police chief for the township of Zacatepec. Juan Manuel Zamudio Bustamante was caught at a gas station by men on a scooter, and shot at least four times.
On Monday, the state attorney general announced the arrest of Raymundo Mateo Cruz, alias “El Mata”, leader of La Familia Michoacana in the plaza of he State of México.
