Governor of Tabasco criticizes insecurity of Mexico’s southern border
(Cárdenas, Tabasco) Governor Andrés Granier Melo said during an interview that “The federal government should look at the two borders, the South and North and that it’s not enough to cover the North when the South is totally unprotected,” The border is quite porous, where drugs and illegal weapons enter which belong to organized crime cartels. Among the irregularities as a result of the neglect on the southern border are Guatemalan trucks entering with drugs and concealed weapons and that is what we urge the government to fight. There needs to be an effective program in coordination with state forces to cope this type of crime that is more advanced along the southern border. The government saying the border is controlled “is a lie that there are no effective controls, the border is porous and the facts show that,” insisted the governor of Tabasco.
