NATO type weapons in Matamoros

Mexican Marines seized a load of 230 grenades of 40 mm. caliber, a weapon also used by NATO forces, and of a destructive power considered as “very high.”

Also seized were 64,950 rounds of ammunition and either 10 or 17 firearms (the reports contradict each other). The exact location of the house where all this was found was not disclosed, and it was only identified as a “safe house” for the “Zetas” criminal group in the city of Matamoros (right across the Rio Grande River from Brownsville, Texas.)

And up that river, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila (across from Eagle Pass, Texas) military personnel seized 202 kilos of weed, 5 long barrel firearms, 2 handguns, 3 hand grenades and 265 rounds of ammo. Also found elsewhere in the same town: 6,434 kilos of marihuana, and empty boxes of grenades and ammunition.

Chihuahua Congress leader wants U.S. immigration reform

Enrique Serrano, President of the Chihuahua State Congress, stated that he will search for close contacts with the new U.S. members of Congress in order to keep alive the immigration reform legislative agenda in the United States. He added that the Republican triumph in the mid-term elections does not necessarily mean an anti-immigrant policy during the coming years. Nevertheless, he pointed out that neither Mexico nor his state can impose an immigration agenda.

Fellow countrymen are coming to stay (full transl.; vernacular expressions included)

Of the 75 thousand migrants (read: Mexicans residing in the U.S., legally or not) who are going to visit the State of Guanajuato during the December holidays, it is expected that only half will return to the United States.

This was reported by Miguel Marquez (later identified as a state official,) who deemed that they will stay due to the triumph of the Republicans over the Democrats during the past elections in the U.S. and the lack of a migratory reform promised in its time by Barack Obama.

He said, “On average, we had in December around 70 to 75 thousand migrants from Guanajuato and, well, we’re expecting that it’ll be reduced to between 30 and 35 thousand who will return this year, we’re talking that a 55 to 60% will return out of the 100%. Our best allies in the immigration issue were the Democrats, and now that the Republicans are winning I think that things will get complicated for us.”

The state official pointed out that two years ago, and to achieve triumph, the current President of the United States counted on the vote of the Latino community but that this triumph is a clear example of the “disillusioned” migrants who keep waiting for an integral migratory reform. “The issue that concerns us, which is a migratory reform, the first thing is that they have been disappointed by the proposal that President Obama made in his campaign, where the Latino vote concentrated and was given to him two years ago and now to it’s time to collect the invoice because the migratory reform hasn’t shown up, well, the majority of Latinos voted against and well, there’s the overwhelming majority.” (sic)

On the issue of remittances, Marquez said that the drop that has been had this year is very small. He ended, “Drops in remittances haven’t been seen, for us, fortunately, there’s a difference of 16 million dollars with respect to last year, and we’re not in such bad shape, a billion 500 million for the third trimester.”

Cambio de Michoacan (Morelia, Michoacan) 11/4/10

“La Familia” members arrested in the U.S.

U.S. federal & local agents arrested 45 persons and confiscated drugs, weapons and funds as part of an investigation into a Mexican cartel operating in the Atlanta, Georgia, metro area. “Operation Choke Hold” was aimed against the “Familia Michoacana” drug distribution network. Seizures included 20 kilos of meth, 43 kilos of cocaine, 1,868 kilos of weed, 20 firearms and about 2.3 million dollars. The group has been distributing significant amounts of drugs in Florida, Alabama, Indiana, Illinois and North Carolina. [This item received extensive coverage in Mexican newspapers today. It was seen in practically every newspaper viewed for preparation of the M3 Report]

El Financiero (Mexico City) 11/4/10

El Sur (Acapulco, Guerrero) 11/4/10

Eighteen bodies found

The bodies of eighteen persons were found and extracted from the ground yesterday (Wed.) in a coconut orchard in the township of Tunzingo (a rural outskirt of Acapulco.) An attempt at identification of the cadavers will now take place. Some of the victims had their hands tied behind their back. (M3Report of 11/4/10 relates)

[Ed. Note: the above event, as well as the recent killing of several U.S. citizens in Ciudad Juarez, plus the discovery of the drug laden cross-border tunnel in Tijuana, and others, have already received prompt, widespread and complete coverage in the U.S. TV and printed media. It illustrates the new level of interest by the media about events south of the border.]

  1. True Patriot Says:

As a True Patriot for this country, I continued to feel nothing but danger with the present illegal thugs in D.C.

It appears Obama considers us to be the enemy,as his slip of the tongue revealed last week.

Obama has deployed numerous UN Troops on all of our military bases within our borders.

Why? Because our own military will not fire on their fellow Americans.

The Mexican border is a nest of violent criminals spilling over the border, & Obama has given them new arrogance to destroy us.

We in America have a brave few willing to stand up for this country.

Thanks you NAFBO for all of your work. Sad that you can do us more good out of uniform, than be oppressed within the workings of the Border Patrol who is not being allowed to do their job.

Obama and Eric Holder AG are outright thugs and should be in prison not in the highest offices in the land.

    • Wayne Says:

There is a long list of republicans that belong in prison too, most of the last administration. You betca. Anyone think that when our boys are captured they will be treated according to the Geneva Convention when the last administration walked all over it? Its called ‘sweep your doorstep before criticizing’. I seriously doubt that Obama will instruct ANY troops to fire on U.S. citizens and promoting that idea is assanine.
Otherwise, the NAFBO has a great solution for immigration if we can get it acted on.
