Cambio de Michoacan (Morelia, Michoacan) 5/12/09

Elvira Arellano (the illegal alien who gained notoriety some time back by taking refuge in a Chicago area church to avoid detention and deportation) has just resigned as consultant to the Michoacan “Department of the Migrant.” To defend her from some recent local criticism, that agency reported that she was “the link between the agency and the diverse groups for the protection of migrants in the United States and in different parts of the world.” Also, “suffice it to say that in the neighbor country to the north there could be 28 million Mexicans and that at least half of them do not have legal status.” Arellano is now a candidate for the Mexican Congress of the “PRD” (far left-wing political party).

El Siglo de Torreon (Torreon, Coahuila) 5/12/09

An editorial titled “How long will our society tolerate it?” begins as follows:
“Our streets have become public cemeteries. No one has the assurance of returning home safely in the afternoon. First it was the levantones (forcible abductions not for ransom but for the purpose of murder) and now because organized crime has decided to use our city as the best battlefield to settle the fights for their dirty business. Many homes in our area have been bereaved and without a doubt more will suffer the loss of a family member.”
