Mexican Federal Police in Santa Ana, Sonora, [50 mi. south of Nogales ] arrested Anahi Beltran Cabrera, 20, Monday for possession of an arsenal, including a Browning .50 caliber antiaircraft machine gun. The weapon has the capability to fire 800 rounds per minute to a range of 1,500 meters [nearly a mile ]. The weapon is only for military use. It was found mounted in the bed of a pickup truck, ready for use and with linked metal cartridge belts of 20 and 500 rounds. Also confiscated were four rifles — two Barrett .50 caliber submachine guns, a .30 caliber Browning submachine gun and a Barrett AR-50 with a bipod — a grenade launcher, a hand grenade, 261 ammo clips, 29 boxes of ammo, five metal cartridge belts and 750 grams of cocaine. Investigations indicate the arms could belong to a branch of the Beltran Leyva brothers crime organization, although there are also independent groups in the area. [photo relates ]——————–

A shootout in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, lead the military on an operation that resulted in the seizure of an arsenal. The results of the gun battle were not given, but the weapons seized were listed as: a Barrett .50 caliber rifle, three R-15 rifles, two AK-47s, 16 .40 caliber grenades, seven fragmentation grenades, a .45 caliber pistol and three communications radios.
