SAN PEDRO MIXTEPEC, OAXACA*
Municipal police officer gunned down while on duty. His injured partner chased the gunmen, but had to wait for the state police as he had no weapon of any kind (this is not uncommon in poorer and more rural areas, where officers often have to buy their own guns and ammunition as well as any other equipment, such as ballistic vests, handcuffs, and uniforms)

The Mexican military has captured four Zetas, following report of armed men at the Hotel Sunset, known as a place where gunmen stay. One of them, Raúl Eduardo Martínez Lugo, alias La Chiva, 37 yrs. old, was the leader for 5 municipalities. Two of the others were teens, 16 and 17 yrs. old. Seized were 6 long guns, magazines, cartridges, cocaine and marijuana, tactical equipment and a cell phone. About 13 years ago, la Chiva was sentenced to 37 months prison in the United States, followed by 3 years probation and was formally deported. he became integrated into the Zetas, and soon became a leader. The state of Tamaulipas had a warrant for his arrest for drug trafficking. He was responsible for the narco cocina (kitchen) recently found on a dairy farm, where victims were tortured, executed and ‘cooked’. At the farm were several narco graves with remains, most only pieces of bones.
CADAREYTA, NUEVO LEÓN*
Three guards from the prison here were kidnapped Monday night. Their dismembered bodies were dumped in front of the prison at 7am in broad daylight, and with numerous officers around. CELAYA, GUANAJUATO*
An intense gunfight at 10 am in the city center killed a police officer and two civilians, wounding other civilians. A later shooting on a road out of the city killed a bad guy.
PEZQUERÍA, NUEVO LEÓN

These two cities are adjacent to each other, but in separate states. Four men were hung on two different bridges connecting the two, and paramedics nearby rushed one still alive to the hospital, but he died.
GUADALUPE, NUEVO LEÓN*
Two police bodyguards for the state governor Rodrigo Media were kidnapped, dismembered, and their bagged bodies dumped on a main street in front of a store with a narco message. One head had been placed into a bucket, but the gunmen leaving the bodies opened fire, tipping it over and the head rolled out. The Governor sent several twitter messages out saying he would continue fighting for a safe state and no threat would stop them.
